Combining backgrounds in software development, graphic design, filmmaking, theatre, music, and story-telling, we are empowered to collaborate fully with you to create rich, cinematic virtual reality experiences.

Our principals come from a deep Hollywood production pedigree, having created significant software products for NBC, Disney, Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures, Showtime, FOX, General Motors, Hyundai, Sony, and many others.

As a studio for hire, we grant you the ability to wield our capabilities to create top-line VR experiences for your customers and clientele.

As an original content studio, we bring our audiences and production partners intelligent, emotional, compelling narratives told from a VR-first perspective.

We are high-end but not high-brow. We enjoy the collaborative process and invite you in to participate with us in bringing life to our collective imaginations with this incredible new medium.

Rapid Fire: a brief history of flight is now available on Hulu's Gear VR App and Samsung Milk VR.

The original experience from Studio Transcendent guides viewers on a 6-minute journey through the history of aviation — an airshow one could never see in real life.  Witness the Wright Flyer’s first leap, dodge bullets from a WWI fighter, get buzzed by the leading-edge F22 Raptor fighter jet, and be nearly engulfed by the world’s largest plane.

Gorgeously rendered with cinematic realism, Rapid Fire showcases Studio Transcendent’s adept use of Unreal Engine as a VR development platform.

This project is a strong example of the blending of Studio Transcendent’s creative and technical skills:  In order to create realistic animations of the aircraft, the team rigged up an existing flight simulator and flew accurate models of the various planes while capturing the flightpath data. Co-founder John Dewar wrote a conversion program to bring the data from the simulator into Unreal Engine. This is something that Studio Transcendent believes has never been done before in VR.

Co-founder Aaron Nicholson employed his extensive theater background to create a script that closely involves the viewer in the story of aviation.  He also voiced the character of Colonel Thompson, the show’s narrator.  The original score was written by Joel Douek.  A full surround sound mix was created by Ecco VR.

we make you feel like you are there

When AppliedVR wanted to give their clients an experience of how viscerally VR can impart a sense of presence, the feeling that you are there, they chose to partner with Studio Transcendent to create The Ledge.

The Ledge gives the viewer the experience of being sent up the side of a very tall building on a painting platform by a slightly devious billboard painter who offers to give you "the best view of the city." The trip that ensues is virtually guaranteed to induce the sensation of vertigo that is only felt atop a tall structure in real life. (This is completely distinct from sim-sickness, which this experience does not induce.)

We utilized stereoscopic video capture to embed our live actor in the computer generated experience so that you have the sensation that he is talking directly to you as he prepares you for your ascent.

Originally designed as a proof of concept for a corporate setting, The Ledge has come to be known as a thrill ride at events and demonstrations because of its ability to make the viewer feel like they are in danger of falling off of a real building while they are standing securely on the ground and its use of naturalistic humor to coax them along.
